Passwords are created in your browser with cryptographic randomness and are never sent anywhere. Secure links register only a coded fingerprint, never the password itself.

A strong password is the start, not the finish.

Generating one is the easy part. These three habits are what actually keep your accounts — and your business — out of the wrong hands.

Turn on multi-factor authentication

Even a perfect password can be phished or leaked. MFA adds a second step — a code or a tap on your phone — so a stolen password alone isn’t enough to get in. Switch it on everywhere it’s offered, starting with email and banking.

Keep it in a password manager

Nobody can remember a different strong password for every account — so don’t try. A password manager stores them safely, fills them in for you, and means you only ever memorise one master password. It’s the single biggest upgrade most people can make.

Check if you’ve been in a breach

Old accounts leak all the time, often without you hearing about it. Have I Been Pwned lets you check — free — whether your email has appeared in a known data breach. If it has, change that password and switch on MFA straight away.

Common questions.

Are these passwords safe to use?

Yes. They're generated in your browser using cryptographic randomness and never sent to us, so nobody but you ever sees them. Guessing one would take an extraordinary amount of time and money - which is exactly the point.

Do you store the passwords I create?

No. Generation happens entirely in your browser and the password never reaches our server. If you create a secure link, we store only a coded fingerprint of the link - never the password, and nothing that could be turned back into it.

What makes a password strong?

Length, mostly. Every extra character multiplies the guesses an attacker needs, which is why three random words beat a short jumble of symbols. Unpredictability matters too: a song lyric is long but guessable, three words chosen by chance are not.

How do I share one safely?

Not by email or text - both leave copies behind. Use the Generate secure link button instead: the password is encrypted in your browser and the link stops working once it's been opened, so it can't be dug out of an inbox later.

Should I reuse an old password?

No. When a site is breached, criminals try the leaked passwords everywhere else. One reused password turns a single breach into a master key for your whole life. Every account gets its own - that's what the password manager is for.

How many should I have?

One per account, without exception. That sounds unmanageable because it is - for a human. A password manager remembers all of them, so the only one you ever memorise is its master password. Make that one long, and make it here.

We can set this up across your whole business.

We set up password managers, multi-factor authentication and Cyber Essentials for UK businesses — and make sure it sticks, rather than getting switched on and forgotten.
